Maria asks…
Is there a free stock market discussion forum online. Morningstar and motley fool are subscribtion only.?
I did a google search and some of the forums have nothing related to stocks even though it says discussion forum. I am looking for a forum where I can discuss about particular stocks with other members.

Camper,
It sounds like you would like my/our Yahoo stock club. We have many honest investors that are always willing to look at other members stock picks and give good advice.

Donald asks…
Any marketing/advertising forums online?
Where people can discuss ideas and get advise for business ideas, company names, etc..? I only want quality forums without all kinds of spam. I’m aware of the self-employment forum on craigslist which is helpful, just looking for as many as I can.

You can’t. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can. You’ll probably get like 10 links in answers to this question, they’re probably all scams. Just a warning.

Can an online forum make money?
I ask because i have a great idea and marketing techniques…. but the thing is, i want to know if it is worth the time and effort to make a forum for money. Sure i will be an actve member on my board… but can you tell me aprox. how much money i COULD make, or what the average forum makes?

1.
Step 1
Before you start making money online, you need a way to receive payments. If you don’t have a personal Paypal account, set one up. Paypal has several business accounts, too, but don’t use these. The business accounts charge you a percentage of your money so you end up giving away some of your cash. Stay with a personal account for now.
2.
Step 2
Do an Internet search for “paid forum posting” (without the quotes) and you’ll see a list of sites that you can join. Before joining, you might want to lurk in a forum just to see what people are saying. You can also do an Internet search based on the forum name to see what people are saying so you don’t waste your time on a bad forum.
3.
Step 3
Once you’ve selected a forum, it’s time to apply for a position as a forum poster. On average, forums will ask you to provide 10-15 writing samples on their forum. Be sure to use your best English, proper grammar and correct punctuation. After you’re done, it’s time to sit back and wait for a response.
4.
Step 4
Once you’ve been accepted, created an email account that is separate from the one you use for personal messages. You’ll use this secondary email account when you begin to sign up on forums as a paid poster. This will keep your business email separate from your personal email.
5.
Step 5
Now that you have been hired to be a paid poster, be sure you read the rules of the company that hired you so you understand how to post, at what frequency you can post and when you get paid. One site I belong to is very strict about frequency of posting and only pays once a month. Another site I belong to is pretty relaxed and pays whenever you request.
6.
Step 6
Paid posting isn’t a job you can live on, but it will provide you with some extra cash. One site I belong to generates about $100-$120 a month for me. I get paid about .15 cents per post and I do about 30 posts a day in about an hour or two. That translates into $5.00. It’s not a lot. But since I’m on the computer all day, anyway, I figure I may else well make some money while I’m at it. As you can see, it does add up.
