Does lend some truth to the notion that the so-called Millennial Generation is one of the sorriest ever?

Everyone likes to think the generation that comes after them is somehow worse. This study proves it may actually be true.

The idea that “kids today” are generally worried about nothing but sending 5,000 texts a day on their iphone without much interest in the world around them may not be very untrue.

“The study found that millennials were less interested in donating to charities, participating in politics or helping the environment. The results support the so-called “Generation Me” theory over the “Generation We” description often used in reference to today’s young people.

“These data suggest that the ‘Me Generation‘ label affixed to the baby boomers was unwarranted. In comparison to the proceeding generations, the boomers look significantly more selfless,” lead researcher Jean Twenge said in a press release. “It will be interesting to see how millennials are affected by the recent recession and whether future generations will reverse the trends.”"

Don’t be so hard on these kids. They are young people with very little adult life experience. A lot of them have had everything handed to them, so growing up is a bit rough.

What were you like, at 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 …. ? I know that I was every bit as self-centered and stupid, if not more.

Isn’t real tax reform having the rich finally pay their fair share after a generation of failed tax cut theory?

We have watched a generation of failed Republican tax theory lead to the highest debt in the world, the largest Financial Crisis since the Great Depression, the bailout of business interests by the taxpayer, and the downgrade of the U.S. as an economic entity.
Why do we keep failing to learn the basic economic math and the lessons of history that you can’t prosper as a society if a small few are the only ones to benefit from your economic activity?
Doesn’t real tax reform mean making the rich pay for the economic mistakes that benefitted a small class of economic players at the expense of everyone else?

Fair is a poor choice of words if you ask me. It is too ambiguous and means something different to everyone. It just adds to the confusion of the issue.

That Bush’s Trickle On economics is an utter failure speaks for itself, the rich are getting richer which is part of the idea, but there was never any mechanism to make them “create jobs” and they do not seem so inclined to do so on their own.

We should increase taxes on the millionaires and billionaires at the very least, to offset the wars and to spend on the infrastructure to create the jobs the rich will not. I also suggest a 1% fee on all Wall Street transactions, to eliminate the current $1.3 trillion dollar spending deficit.

mindless generation of today?

if todays generation of teenagers (specifically in north america) are the future, then we better build a time machine before we get to the future. all these little idiots (mind you, i am also a teen, 15 years of age to be exact) have no respect for each other, follow each other around like little sheep, we’re all human billboards wearing crappy mono-colour (i live in canada, thats why there’s a u in colour) shirts made in china by some poor kid with a large logo like ‘HOLLISTER’ that costs $35, when it has the same quality as a wal-mart shirt (also made in china by some poor kid). there is NO LEADERS in my generation, everyone is HOMOPHOBIC, kids are texting when they are one beside another, NO ONE IN MY GENERATION CAN STEP BACK AND LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE! THIS IS SERIOUS, I’VE BEEN IN 5 SCHOOLS, and i only met 3 PEOPLE INCLUDING ME WHO TRULY CARE ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE BESIDES WEED, GOSSIP, WHAT OTHER GIRLS SAID (IM A GUY) AND THE LATEST DEGENERATE POP/ HIP-HOP SONG. thats 3 POSSIBLE LEADERS OUT OF THE 2300 KIDS I’VE MET! we are all rased as consumers, AND ITS YOUR FAULT, PARENTS! GOOD JOB YOU IDIOTS, all your kids are little s#!t-head zombies who make no self-informed decisions, have no personal tastes, have no fashion! GOOD JOB, corporate america, another generation of hating self-loathing consumers! MOST kids have no self-motivation, no interest in school, no interest in topics like philosophy, politics, world views, religion, business, technology, and idiology. WEI’RE THE TECHNOLOGY GENERATION MY-BUM! WHEN MOST KIDS MY AGE ARE TOO AFRAID TO OPEN THEIR COMPUTERS TO SEE WHATS INSIDE. THEY’RE TOO STUPID TO LEARN HOW TO DOWNLOAD VIA TORRENTS, SOMETHING MY DAD CAN DO. and when someone is different, they dress differently or do different things, THEY ARE PUT DOWN. for example, im from Europe (germany) i immigrated when i was eight. i dress with REAL style, and dont wear a billboard on my chest, and for that i am GAY! because i know how to dress, i know etiquette and i play soccer. of course, he’s gay, that explains it! no it doesnt, but it does show that you’re ignorant. THERE ARE YOUR INTERNATIONAL LEADERS! EH? also, BTW, i have a 92% in english (in canada, so thats an a+ in america) and theres kids in my class who are failing english that WERE BORN HERE! what the fudge? i speak A SECOND LANGUAGE BETTER THAN ITS NATIVE SPEAKERS? excellent educational system! right? because we capitalists know better then anyone else right?

SO….

MY QUESTION IS……

what do you think of my generation? do you agree or disagree with me, and why?

on a further note….. kids today are so focused on organized sports… they think the only way to play is to play organized…. back in Europe playing a sport as a kid means to play outside, with half-decent equipment, AND HAVE FUN! a kid form Nigeria with who plays barefoot futbol (soccer) i guaranty you has more fun and learns more about him or herself in the proccess than a kid who plays and is pressured by everyone around him. there have been studies, search this up, that back-up my opinion. mice have been left to play together in one test, in the other there is an adult. the mice that play without interupting supervison had a mush more advanced brain, because everyday you meet up with the neighborhood kids to play, there is an adventure everyday, where you have to solve problems, disputes, lead our friends, and learn to watch for yourself. you learn about people and how they think, you learn about how a group works together to achieve a goal (such as build a snow fort) i learned how to fight, how to socialize, how to do just about EVERYTHING by playing outside with friends at ages 4-12 (the first neighborhood i moved into in canada was a serbian one where there was a park shared by 2 apartment buildings where kids of all sizes went to enjoy the outdoors, and do all sorts of dangerous stuff, fun stuff, and so on. so yea. that was my rant.
firstly, little_lady. no, there is no god, im Athiest, dont tell me all this bull about how god is punisihng us. natural disasters are NATURAL, we why they happen, you can stop making stuf up now, weire in the 21st century.

secondly, Mane Kafe 1: i am generalizing, because if i did the opposite of what generalization is , the concepts of age, gender, groups would not exist in our world. YOU CAN NEVER TAKE ONE PERSON AT A TIME, ONLY GROUPS OF PEOPLE WITH SIMILARITIES! but yea, sorry for generalizing but im pretty sure the ratio of 2300 idiots: 3 sane kids is rational in that the sample size of 2300 kids is large enough to compensate for generalization. secondly: I MEANT TO LITERALLY OPEN UP A COMPUTER CASE TO UNDERSTAND HOW TECHNOLOGY WORKS BESIDES JUST USING IT AS A CONSUMER. I am able to MAKE my own computer with the knowledge i have about computers, instead of being just another dumb consumer. NEXT: I DID NOT SAY 92 IS AN A+ IN NORTH AMERICA, I SAID IT WAS AN A+ SPECIFICALLY IN CAN

This generation is horrible. We are actually living in the Twilight Zone now where everybody is a brainwashed sheep who follows the crowd.

Radio, TV, music and movies have gone straight to hell and is made now to only serve the younger generations with mainstream garbage and sex in it because that’s what the kids want to see and hear.

I have actually seen grown adults in their 30s to 50s who like Justin Beiber! What’s even more disturbing is that grown men like him too! We definitely are in the Twilight Zone and our next stop is hell… (by that way things are going especially in America and Canada we are doomed.

Was Clint Eastwood right about our generation?

http://screenrant.com/clint-eastwood-man-figuratively-literally-vic-4839/
He believes we are living in a p***y generation.

Its all about who gets offended, men are effeminate weaklings with no moral values, children are killing their parents over chores, schools are spending 9 hours *discovering their feelings* rather than learning anything practical, boys are spending more time playing xbox live than outside getting fit, you can’t let your children beyond the street because sexual predators are more rampant due to a “tolerant” culture, kids think they can sleep around without marriage and live together under the guise of “sexual liberation” bull****, COLLEGE GRADUATES have NO skills whatsoever in the real world and feel entitled to a cushy six figure jobs sitting on their butt doing nothing(minimum wage or climbing the ladder is *beneath them*), music is TERRIBLE piece of garbage with all this soft sugar cookie crap, guys are dressing like girls and are cutting their wrist because someone said something “mean” to them, women(or should I say GIRLS) today don’t have a 1/10th of the STRENGTH that women had 3 generations ago, no one knows any thing about money or finances and have to live paycheck to paycheck while simultaneously spending money on a HDTV trying to also buy the BIGGEST house they can possibly afford, American Citizens (both republican AND democrat) are handing the constitution to slimy politicians because their too weak to take care of themselves and are too stupid to interpret it, Parents are spoiling their kids rotten and think that their “pumpkin poo” is a gifted genius(*spoiler* HE’S/SHE’S NOT!), no one reads books anymore and think they are entitled to television in every room, cowardly, amoral men are sleeping around and thinking they can leave the mom raising the family by herself because they think they can WHORE around like a punk, worst part of it all is that all but FEW know how to raise their kids with some d@mn sense anymore.

Parents aren’t instilling values anymore and the word “sacrifice” to raise their children is now taboo. Blind leading the blind when it comes to parenting.
Media is devoid of values and FORCES a politically correct culture where everyone is equal regardless of how hard they work.
Schools are too busy singing “kumbaya” and they wonder why they are at the bottom of the world when it comes to education.
Its “offensive” to wave the American flag boldly anymore because it might “hurt some one’s feelings” when you show support for your nation.
Nobody believes in pulling their own weight in society.(What do you think happens when nobody pulls their weight?)

Do you agree with Clint Eastwood when he said we are living in a p***y generation and when do you think this happened? (Don’t feel afraid to tell it like it is. If they can’t handle truth then they have no business answering in the first place.)

I never heard of making money off those sites but their might be a way.
I am also a student and I make money by doing GPT (get paid to) sites and other sites. Before you join a site make sure you google it or something to make sure it’s legit. A GPT site is a site that pays you to do things like submit your email and other things. It’s really easy. You’ll want to make an extra email to submit those things to, so you won’t get lots of spam. My favorite GPT site is MakeThatCashMoney.

Aren’t you glad you’re not a famous rich actor/actress, going to the Oscars, because you’ve been nominated?

Especially women…they have to wear very tight and uncomfortable designer dresses in which they can barely walk, breathe or sit down. Add the high heels to that. I’d like to see how they handle peeing in public toilets in those. They usually don’t even own the dress, it was lent to them because they’re walking advertising but they have to name the designer in any interview. Any journalist on the red carpet will ask “what are you wearing?” It’s not like anybody care but it’s a requirement. The famous actress gets to wear the dress that she does not have to buy…but she has to say the designer’s name. The journalist will have to ask the question about the designer, so the actress can say the name of the designer, otherwise she would not answer any questions from the journalist and just waive and move on.

You scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.

Then they have to wear those heavy, “this is the price of a house” cold stones around their neck and pulling down on their ear lobes. They don’t even own those jewels; it was lent to them because they’re walking advertising (then the jeweler has to go to court when celebrities’ personal assistant “forget” to return the borrowed jewels, ha-ha).

They have to do all that while smiling a fake smile with fake white teeth, and looking a little too happy while wondering why oh why do I subject myself to this? Having money but wearing things I don’t even own…then, they remember…they got into this business for fame, fortune and adulation…none of those are easy.

Then everybody will notice that they either lost too much weight or gained too much weight. Then whatever they look like, some people will criticize their fashion sense, in magazines, trash papers, online…

Men will be judged by their arm candies. If she’s an unknown, sexy and half his age…then he’s a loser and she’s a gold digger. If she’s not sexy, even nice and classy, and she’s as old as him, because she’s his soul mate, then people will think “gosh, he could do better than that!”

English essay… again?

Right, so i’ve already posted a question about my media essay about two advertisments in Bliss Magazine – Avril Lavigne and Colleen Rooney’s perfumes. However, i didn’t seem to ask it very well. So here i go again:

This is my INTRODUCTION and the start of the body of my essay. I can’t use P.E.E because there is very little writing on the advertisements and so i can’t quote it very well. If you could give me any help/corrections/ideas it would be very much appreciated. If not, just leave me your thoughts. Thank you.

Following your close study on Bliss Magazine, comment on and compare advertisement features which you feel are significant in making it successful.

The publishers of Bliss magazine obviously have a clear idea of their target audience. Not only do the bright, girly colours and photographs of current and popular celebrities suggest that it is aimed at teenage girls but also the name ‘bliss’- meaning extreme happiness, suggests femininity and youth. The magazine is most likely aimed at females in there early adolescent years and possibly even preteens; perhaps with ages varied between twelve and fifteen. They also obviously know that it is important to appeal to the target audience and so have used a wide range of presentational features to ensure this is achievable; some of these include colour scheme, lay-out, fonts and images. All of the devices used are not only suitable for the Bliss readers but also for the purpose of the magazine which is to entertain, give advice, advertise and ultimately sell. The content usually includes pages based on celebrity gossip, news, fashion tips, interviews and “problem pages” all of which have been designed for the purpose and target audience. Obviously, their main priority is to sell and so they approach the potential buyer bribing them with a “free gift”. They also design the front cover making sure the expensive price tag is the least eyecatching part and is over-powered by other feautures. Some would say that magazines such as Bliss can be quite deceiving because they lure the shopper into buying it and are only interested in the money that they will be receiving. Another way that the company attempts to increase their profits is by advertising. In the December issue of Bliss Magazine, two similar advertisements are displayed that are trying to appeal to the same target audience as Bliss Magazine itself which is why they have chosen to advertise in this particular area of the media.

The first advertisement is for Avril Lavigne’s perfume “Black star”. Already, the name suggests a lot about the product. For example; you would imagine it to be gothic and dark because those are the connotations of the colour black. Despite the gothic style, pink is used in the colour scheme so that it can appeal to more than just one group of people. Pink is also a typical feminine colour and so is suitable for the target audience.

The name “black star” contradicts itself because stars are never usually described as black, therefore creating a sense of uniqueness and individuality which is something many teenagers aspire to be. The wording “be your own star” tells the reader that buying the perfume can help you to become everything you want to be, making it very persuasive. They also do this by styling Avril Lavigne to look like her perfume bottle. She models a short pink dress with finishing touches including a studded belt, fish net tights and a shinny, silver bangle and is posed to look powerful which breaks the weak and innocent stereotype of a typical girl. Similarly, the bottle is pink and shaped like the dress with a black, star shaped lid which reflects the belt that she is wearing. By mirroring the perfume bottle in the clothes and accessories, it suggests to the target audience that by wearing the perfume, they can be like Avril Lavigne.

The second of the two advertisements is about Coleen Rooney’s perfume. It has been styled carefully to look sophisticated and elegant. By using shades of purple rather than pink, it is still able to attract girls but looks more mature and grown up. The advertisement displays a photograph of Coleen, showing her slim, attractive outline and is airbrushed to make her look “perfect”. The contrast of Coleen against outlines of dancers in the background gives the impression of her “standing out”. Like Avril Lavignes perfume, the bottle is very similarly designed to mirror Coleen’s dress. Both are plain black and very graceful.

Where & how can I recycle my old magazines?

I googled this question and everything that showed up was tips on how to recycle like dropping them off at doctor’s offices, passing them on to friends or using them for crafts.

The thing is, many of them are old (early 2000′s to present) so I doubt any of my friends want them, and a lot of them don’t belong in doctor’s offices due to nudity and vulgarity (Rolling Stone, Blender, Spin, Interview, a bunch of celebrity gossip mags, etc). Also, many of them have pages ripped out or cut up from when I used them to make collages and other crafts.

I can not throw them out, I would be filled with guilt! At the same time, I’m cleaning out my room and don’t want them around anymore.

A lot of other search results said many locations do not allow you to recycle magazines with newspapers. If this country is promoting recycling and saving energy, why the hell is it so hard to find somewhere to bring these old magazines!?

Are there specific places I can bring them? Please help!

-please don’t give me more “ideas” on how to “use” my old magazines! I just want an answer on where to bring them so they can be recycled.

If not don’t school’s have dumps that are for magazines and paper
and you could also call your local garbage company and ask where you can recycle them

This celebrity you speak of is a model right? Is this model a real celebrity here in the states or in Croatia where you said you live? Do you know for a fact this celebrity has the ability to answer any question asked? You refer to the celebrity as a he/she. If you have a celebrity arranged to answer these questions you really should know their gender. You ask if someone had the brains to be working for professional interviews. What does that have to do with a person asking “questions for celebrities”? And why would they interview people? What is the name of the best magazines you speak of? Who besides you say this is a competition and give no limit and ending date for this “competition”. And whose property does the questions and answers become and by we as a 13 or 14 year old boy your right to these would rest upon the hands of your parents if you do not do exactly as you say and would have a law suit brought against you for false statements.

you give some valuable content to the users, in return they give you their email address,

You need to offer the visitor something of value, like a free e-book, video or report in exchange for their opt-in subscription.

Many people have this free content on the next page after the visitor opt-in. However, people may give you fake info just to get the free content without subscribing with a real e-mail.

Awebber is an e-mail marketing system that allows you manage your opt-in subscribers, verify their e-mail address and automatically sends them your free e-book after they confirm.

Its the best way to stay on the up and up with e-mail marketing. All the pros use them!

admin answers:

This is a hot topic, Scott, so let’s get started. There are tons of ways to get yourself noticed on the Internet – and lots of companies eager to separate you from your marketing dollars. But I think a few very inexpensive basics can make a huge difference:

First, make your own site as professional as possible. No typos, no goofy images. All your other efforts will bring Web users back here, so make your site informative, visually clean and reflective of the business image you want to portray. Think of it as your storefront; if it doesn’t look attractive and clean, customers will walk out ASAP. I think Brad Fallon does a good job explaining the hows and whys here: http://www.bradfallon.com/articles/whywebsites.html

Second, follow the basics of search-engine optimization just to make sure that your site can be found in any of the major search engines. The words you use, the items you post all matter. There’s a wealth of good information at http://www.seochat.com.

OK, now you’ve laid the groundwork by creating a website with power and one that can be found. Next, there are a few other easy steps you can take that don’t require a massive amount of time (and you might even find them fun). For one, set yourself up on the social networks – LinkedIn and Facebook, in particular – to make sure you are connecting to potential partners and customers.

On LinkedIn, you’ll be able to more blatantly advertise your services, grab recommendations from friends and build your business network. On Facebook, you’ll find more of a personal bent, but as we move increasingly to a world where work and play overlap, there is still plenty of advantage to be had on Facebook. George Kao does a great job showing how to use these social networks in a free training. Learn more at http://georgekao.com/

You’ll notice you’ve spent very little money so far, just the cost of your domain name and hosting. (By the way, don’t add the bells and whistles on hosting; basic service works just fine for most businesses and you can always order more later).

Now comes the real advice: Be generous. Very generous. Create a blog that offers advice for free in your area of expertise. Troll the Web for questions and become a go-to helper. Sign up as an expert on http://www.Squidoo.com. Then go back and write about the problem and your solution on your blog. If one person has that problem, others will too. You can venture out into the physical world as well, teaching people about your area.

I’m sure you get the picture by now: When you give of yourself, becoming the expert in your sphere of influence, you end up with people searching for you. Unselfishness actually is a great marketing strategy online. When they search for you – or stumble across you in the search engines – your marketing is free, credible and honest.

Online marketing strategy for brand image development?

How can we design an effective online marketing strategy for branding solutions?

admin answers:

Can you clarify your question? Are you asking for an online marketing strategy FOR a brand development service, or how to build an online marketing strategy for the purposes of developing your brand?

In either case, depending on the brand and the goods or services that it provides, the most important thing is to create genuine touch points with your customers. This can include tools like social media, blogs, forums, etc. That will effectively engage your customers to interact with your brand.

Social media is a great way to do this because it facilitates community presence that is supported by the brand. Blogs and forums are a great way for your brand to speak on your particular expertise and share knowledge – this is another great way to build a rapport with your audience. Furthermore, you want to be able to facilitate two-way communication because nothing builds loyalty like a brand who listens and responds.

Those are just some very cost-effective methods. There are also ways to enhance your search presence either by optimizing your parameters for the web or by paying for visual real estate on sites like Google.

Hope this gets you started.

Writers: B/Q. Let’s get down and dirty eh? ?

Haha. I just watched an interview of an author who had an interesting ritual she did before writing each day. She would color-code her pens, sharpen all of her pencils (even though she didn’t use them and even if they were already sharpened), and then she would dust her keyboard. *chuckles* Hmm, seems some of you writers are a bit obsessive compulsive eh?

Ok so on to the questions that I’m just generally interested in.

1) What are your writing rituals that you absolutely have to do or else you will not be able to sit down and concentrate on writing? Do you have any post-writing rituals and if so what are they? (ex: acting a character’s part, writing silly, rubbish words to get them out of your system, rewarding yourself with an ice cream if you complete your word count quota each day…etc)

2) Does your self esteem or mood affect your writing style, voice, or creativity (or anything else for that matter), when you’re writing?

3) Did you learn anything from writing your last book, paragraph, essay, blurb, blog, etc.?

4) What genre are you most comfortable writing/why? What are you least comfortable writing/why?

5) What interests you the most about people? What do you like the most..and do these traits/qualities/characteristics manifest into your characters?

6) What would your protagonist and antagonist wish for if they found a genie?

7) What is the most frightening handicap or disfigurement you can think of? Do any of your characters have these? If so is it a key character?
Do you have a comic relief character? If so, what quirks does he/she have? And what type of humor do you use? (ex: slapstick humor described through action, quips illustrated via dialogue, etc)

9) What celebrity would your protagonist and antagonist want to meet and why?

10) What do you consider the most overrated virtue and do any of your characters possess it?

11) What is the strangest/funniest insult anyone has ever given to you?

Yeah I know, some of these are utterly stupid questions lmao..but I’m just interested.

Thanks in advance and best answer is based on votes from public.
Bahaha I’m loving the answers. Nice virtues too and yes, I hear you on needing to make the work environment clear of clutter. Definitely have that myself.

To say a handicap/disfigurement is “frightening” is the person’s opinion and yes, some disfigurements/handicaps are frightening to certain people. I know exactly why you are so sensitive on this subject, though, since you stated it in your answer so I bow out of this would-be debate out of respect for your opinion. But lets not get all politically correct and start looking for reasons to complain/criticize/judge when the initial meaning wasn’t meant that way.

When I’m writing, I like silence. So I need itunes up so I can have my certain song on repeat. But first, everything needs to be closed out. The document with my book must be with first tab on the start bar. Then itunes after that. After that, documents of notes can follow.
Where ever I’m working, an entire space has to be cleared. If something is touching me that isn’t my desk (or couch cushion..or pillow) most chances, it needs to go. So really, I push all the junk away from me, giving me a clean circle to work in.
When I’m doing serious notes, I need my light blue pen…the one I like to chew on. I call it my chewy pen.
Snacks and sodas within reach is always a nice touch.

2) Does your self esteem or mood affect your writing style, voice, or creativity (or anything else for that matter), when you’re writing?
It can, but I try not to let it be affected. Sometimes, it just happens. Other times, I’m able release the mood I’m in.

3) Did you learn anything from writing your last book, paragraph, essay, blurb, blog, etc.?
I’m always learning from things that I have previously written.

4) What genre are you most comfortable writing/why? What are you least comfortable writing/why?
Fantasy. I’m most comfortable writing that. It’s far away from reality. I can make up history.
I’m least comfortable with horror. I don’t even know how to begin to write it.

5) What interests you the most about people? What do you like the most..and do these traits/qualities/characteristics manifest into your characters?
I like to study people. For some apparent reason, the way a person talks, their movements, and how they interact with others interest me.
They do manifest into my characters because I was observing and studying how others act.
Call it research.

6) What would your protagonist and antagonist wish for if they found a genie?
Heh, this is a bit laughable. They would both wish for peace…but both would go about it in two different ways.
Or maybe my protagonist would wish to break from the bind from the other main character….

7) What is the most frightening handicap or disfigurement you can think of? Do any of your characters have these? If so is it a key character?
Not having thumbs.
No, all of my characters have all of their thumbs.

Do you have a comic relief character? If so, what quirks does he/she have? And what type of humor do you use? (ex: slapstick humor described through action, quips illustrated via dialogue, etc)
I do…and then he decided that he wanted a larger role. *rolls eyes* Well, he got what he wanted.
He had a love hate relationship with the main character.
It was quite adorable at times.

9) What celebrity would your protagonist and antagonist want to meet and why?
I can’t think of ane. It’s a fantasy world. Celebrities don’t have a big role in it…what with enslavement and all.

10) What do you consider the most overrated virtue and do any of your characters possess it?
I think I’d have to say chastity. And none of my characters possess it…that I know of.

11) What is the strangest/funniest insult anyone has ever given to you?
That I was random and insane.
Oh, that’s supposed to be an insult?
I took it as a complement

So I’m guessing you all have heard the latest on Chris Breezy right?

http://omg.yahoo.com/videos/ap-source-chris-brown-trashes-gma-dressing-room/13495

TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS BEFORE YOU ANSWER.

In all honesty, Chris Brown never lost me as a fan. His music and entertainment is a separate entity from his personal life. What he does off stage or outside the studio is in his own hands, and none of my business. I think it’s rather petty to stop listening to someone’s music because of something they’ve done or mistakes they’ve made, and to start listening to Rihanna’s music more simply because she’s a victim. I liked his music before and that doesn’t change because he made a mistake. In no way am I saying what he did isn’t wrong and I’m not one of those people saying,” Oh it was two years ago.” That doesn’t mean anything.

Still, it’s obvious that Chris Brown is young and still working on himself and reconnecting with his fans and yes, I would be upset if I came on the show to discuss my album and was surprised with that question. If I can recall with clarity, Chris Brown admitted to having anger problems. and two years doesn’t just magically take away years of anger, no matter how much treatment. It doesn’t matter how famous he is, he’s still human. And as humans, we’re not always so keen on discussing our mistakes or comfortable when people shed light on our wrongdoings. It’s just sad that doesn’t apply to those in the spotlight. They’re forced to speak about their past and their mistakes and have millions of people judge them and screw their faces up at them whereas the average person could have beat up their girlfriend and after a week no one would truly care enough to still discuss the beating.

Someone brought this up on OMG!YAHOO and I agree :

“Funny how interviewers don’t ask Charlie Sheen about all the women he beat up and/or shot at. Certainly not defending Chris Brown, but wonder why people don’t approach Sheen about his issues. Is it because Brown’s victim was famous and most of Sheen’s were not? After all Charlie did, he was approached to do a show loosely based on his life that would glorify his life style. Chris Brown is basically ostracized from everything. Is it because Brown is black? Is there some reference guide I could follow to know which celebrity is NOT to be forgiven for his/her past transgressions and bad behavior and which ones get the free pass, admiration and more money? Again, not defending Brown, but is this going to be brought up every time he does an interview or is talked about while no one says a word to or about Sheen?”

How many times has Eminem admitted to beating the shit out of Kim and no one cared. He even made a song about how he would kill her!!! It’s because he’s Caucasian, and I don’t care what anyone says. That’s the truth.

Chris Brown will never lose me as a fan. I’m sixteen. He was my age when he first came into the spotlight. I love his music. I love his dancing. The boy has talent. So he made a mistake, big deal. I cannot stress this enough, IF HE WASN’T FAMOUS NO ONE WOULD CARE. It’s the truth and everyone knows it. As a young lady, I found what happened to Rihanna horrible. Still, I have friends who have gone through worse not to make what happened to her seem petty. However, it’s up to the both of them to pick themselves up and go on with their lives.

If anything, Rihanna lost me as a fan. After what happened to her, she did a complete 360 turn in her music and the way she presented herself. I don’t like the new Rihanna, and that’s okay because she has fans who do. However, her new sound is simply repulsive and I can’t catch on to it.

Do realize that he’s admitted to having anger problems since he was younger and that two years can’t just make that magically disappear. He’s human, he’s young, and obviously he’s still in the process of pulling himself together and working on his problems. Give the guy a break, he’s reconnecting with his fans and making new music. WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WERE IN FRONT OF THAT MANY PEOPLE AND OUT OF NOWHERE SOME THEY BROUGHT UP YOUR PAST? It’s like the guy is trying to stand up from the ground, but everyone keeps throwing rocks at him whenever he does.

Love you Chris, and keep your head up. Rihanna stop trying to be the black Jessica Rabbit.

Go make minimum wage! Muah!

What was your favorite things about Patrick Swayze ?

Ok so I’m RE wording this question since people seemed to be so offended before just for me saying how attractive I found him but that’s nothing new on this website people love to throw fits on here but anyways ……On to a more positive note …

What I was trying to say was I thought what made him attractive and a great guy was that I did not find him cocky at all, especially how nice I thought that was since he is very talented and successful in his life time, he carried a confidence that was easy to admire and always kept his head high even though he had a hard life at times and when a person can do so it’s very inspiring but he never stopped, and his triple threat talents where charmingly good. Acting seemed so natural to him, sometimes actors over do it and lose your interest but he made all his roles feel real and that’s what makes a good actor in my book ! ………..and his dancing was stunning ….I do not think I have ever seen a guy dance so good lol Dirty Dancing was an amazing role for him and I feel with those moves and suave attitude he could win any girls heart as many woman I know must have felt when watching the movie lol as men must have as watching Baby….which also brings me back to his acting skills, when you make someone actually want to be in the movie THAT is clearly a good actor !! And on top of all that time he took acting and dancing he wrote songs for the film and sang them, another reason why I admire his talents because he never was too tired to do so, like The Beast for example.
He also was funny too (SNL skit, Too Wong Foo) lol …..anyways I just wanted to remember him because I think he was a nice guy, especially to his wife Lisa, their so cute and so in love and that’s rare these days ! …..he seems like he really respected woman, and treated them like a man should.
Watching his interviews and stuff he did not come off all “celebrity” about things he seems like a real true human being as a lot of celebrities wish they were viewed as …he definitely had that !
Anyways just wondering what you really liked about him and remember……
RIP Patrick…..Always remembered but never forgotten !!

LBGT: Do you also agree with Sir Elton John’s opinion’s in this article?

Elton sick of ‘second-class’ treatment
Last updated 14:45 24/01/2011

Sir Elton John is “fed up” with being a treated like a “second-class citizen” in the US.

That’s why the 63-year-old gay singer said he took a stand last week during a performance at a private Beverly Hills fundraiser for the ongoing legal challenge to California’s gay marriage ban. The outspoken British piano man, who became a parent to a baby boy on Christmas Day with partner David Furnish, added that “as I get older, I get more angry about it.”

“In this country, we need more dialogue,” he said during an interview Friday. “We don’t need any more stone throwing. We don’t need any more vitriol. We need people to say, ‘OK. I’m straight. You’re gay. Let’s get along. I’m Republican. You’re Democratic. Let’s work together.’ I’m sick and tired of people being hateful to each other in this country.”

John disappointed some gay rights activists after California’s Proposition 8 banning gay marriage passed in 2008 when he said he had no desire to get married and was satisfied with his civil partnership in England. He sang a different tune Wednesday when he praised the effort to overturn Proposition 8 and promised to do everything he could to support it, even though he is British.

The couple’s son, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, was born in California through a surrogate mother. John said he was disappointed that members of the Church of England questioned his parenthood in the days following his son’s birth. He insisted that he’s not against religion and that “Jesus was a wonderful, compassionate man, who forgave on the cross”.

“Everyone is entitled to have their own beliefs and their own spirituality,” said John. “The big difference is that the dogma of the church can be so hateful and divisive. It’s stuck in the stone age. We don’t live in the stone age anymore. The church is losing people left, right and center because people are fed up with the rhetoric that they’re giving them.”

Agree Or Disagree –Religious View?

I recently received this in an email. What do you think about it? I’m not exactly sure yet.

The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.

My confession:

I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees, Christmas trees.. I don’t feel threatened. I don’t feel discriminated against. That’s what they are: Christmas trees.

It doesn’t bother me a bit when people say, ‘Merry Christmas’ to me. I don’t think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn’t bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu . If people want a creche, it’s just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

I don’t like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don’t think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can’t find it in the Constitution and I don’t like it being shoved down my throat.

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren’t allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that’s a sign that I’m getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to. In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it’s not funny, it’s intended to get you thinking.

Billy Graham’s daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her ‘How could God let something like this happen?’ (regarding Katrina) Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, ‘I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we’ve been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?’

In light of recent events… terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O’Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn’t want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn’t spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr Spock’s son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he’s talking about. And we said OK.

Now we’re asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don’t know right from wrong, and why it doesn’t bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves. Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with ‘WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.’

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world’s going to hell Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send ‘jokes’ through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Are you laughing yet?

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you’re not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.

Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us. Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not then just discard it… no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don’t sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

My Best Regards, Honestly and respectfully,

Ben Stein

Republicans have blinders on concerning her.
Tonight on ABC I was watching her body language (severely hunched over) and facial expressions (very tense) which gave away her discomfort about being asked questions of International relations and National security. I came away with the impression that she was inadequately coached and became the deer in the headlights of International issues.
She seemed more comfortable talking about god, but to me she came across as a high school girl that crammed badly.

Do you have a celebrity that you feel like you will always be there for?

I mean like.. is there a celebrity out there that you feel like fans understand her/him better than others and that you can look past some things and still be a supporter – because you know that they are a good person? I can’t really explain it.. but like from say interviews or reading their book or meeting that person do you feel like being a fan you can understand that celebrity better than those who just seem to hate on them for no reason?
Because she’s just like everyone else and she makes it known through her music. Also when Janet spoke about her childhood and personal obstacles she had to hurdle – I could definitely relate. I wish she was more communicative with her fan base like she was back in the day. She used to go in chat rooms and chat with fans. I’d love to experience that because I feel we have so much in common.

Questions about the Walt Disney World College Program!?

I applied for the WDW College program online last weekend (I watched the online presentation, filled out an application and did an online interview.). Yesterday, I scheduled an interview for Thursday.

I am really interested and excited for the program. I am currently a freshman (First Semester) at a community college. The program sounds great–a lot of fun and new experience (both of which I am all about), but I don’t want to get behind in school. I worry about this. I was thinking about taking maybe one class through Disney and then two or three online classes from my university. When I’ve read other reviews, people say this isn’t a good idea because you don’t have a lot of time, since you are working full time. I want to be able to enjoy the experience and be able to enjoy Florida during my stay.

I am thinking about taking classes through my college online during the summer, but my time will be limited due to a summer job.

If others have experienced this program and taken online classes, could you elaborate? Is the schedule far too busy for a school or fun?

Also, what is the residence life like? Did you find it easy to get along with your roommates? I am not one much for partying, and I don’t drink or do drugs. Are there a lot of problems like this in the housing? I also have never lived away from home before, does Disney make it an easy transition? Did you make a lot friends and memories for a lifetime? What part of the park did you work in? Did you enjoy the experience? Would you recommend it to others? I read on some website that a lot of celebrities hang out in the parks and you have a chance of waiting on them. Is this true for WDW too, or just mainly Disneyland?

If you could share any experience or insight from the program with me, that would be great! =)

Thanks!
I almost forgot!

Is it hard getting a job at the Bibbity Boppity Boutique or in Recreation? If you’ve worked in either of these places- is it fun? Is there any skills you need before working there?

Is there anything that I should bring with me if I go? Does the apartment have a coffeemaker? I read that there is a coffee place, but I am assuming this costs money and is probably pricey as coffee shops usually are.

Are there laundry rooms? Does anyone know how much it costs to use?

Are the housing sponsored events and trips fun? Do a lot of people go, or are most people working when they are going on?

Which housing unit is the best to stay at? Is there a gym?

Do many of the classes actually transfer to your college? Are the classes worthwhile to take or a waste of time if you aren’t majoring in hospitality?
One more thing!

What are some typical interview questions asked by the Disney Rep?
Also, if accepted I would be going from January 2010 through May. Is this a good time to go–or really busy time?

I am a Communications Major btw- so I would like to use this program to help me later possibly get a professional internship for Communications. Has anyone out there actually succeeded at doing this?
Some of these questions I could ask to a rep, but a lot of them are more opinion based. A rep is going to telling you pretty much what they think you want to hear. I want more honest answers.

These are the kinds of questions you NEED to be asking someone from the program. If you can’t get access to someone to ask questions, then that should tell you something about how well the program is run.

I’ve heard of this program but I haven’t personally done it. Winter into Spring is prime tourism time in Florida because the weather is milder. You will love the weather, but you will be very busy. Trust me, you don’t want to be in FL in the summer.

ETA:

Are there laundry rooms? How much does laundry cost? Is the schedule too busy for school? What does Disney do to make for an easy transition? Is there a gym? What should I expect in the interview? How available are jobs in bibbity bobbity whatever? Those are not subjective questions.

How do I forget a decent shy guy? What went wrong?

I met this guy at a formal event over the summer – he spent the rest of the night, focused on me: polite, respectful…a gentleman. Danced w. me but did not touch me, the groomsmen came by and spoke w. me (they asked questions for him) and some just smiled and walked away. At the end of the night, he politely asked for my number and 20 mins later he texted me that it was nice to meet me and we should hang out sometime. Talked/texted here and there for 2 weeks before “hanging out”. Before dinner, he sent a cute, fliry text, givin me a pic of my celebrity crush sayin it was him lol We went out to dinner and he paid. He was soo respectful, fun, asked questions about me, remembered details fr the first time we talked and the current convo (questions were like a “long term mate” interview. Ex: do you cook? do you like your co-workers?) but we also had fun, laughed, and he would look at me longer than you normally do – the black part of his eyes were big. I was surprised to learn that his ex-gf happen to be this girl i went to high school yet and she does not like me. He actually agreed w. me and said he was “mean like that, full of drama”. I didn’t speak bad of her but casually mentioned that we had no association w. her (esp since she dislikes me for whatever reason). He ended w. “we should do this again sometime” and gave me a non-touchy, nice hug. Fr. that outing, I got the impression he’s one of those “shy guys” (shy but nice/reserved not completley quiet; kind of like david beckham) and very picky about who he associates with; seems to be uncomfortable w. things/people who are agressive. The next night he textd a brief comment about a movie he watched w. his friends. I texted, he replied the next morning.

I’m not one to be agressive w. boys but i thought long and hard at the work he put in so i texted him the next week, asking how he was and how his event fr. last weekend went. He replied within 5 minutes saying, “hey! i’m good! how are you? It was….” After 2 more small texts I jokingly said somethin how I should bring him food (fr. my work) to feel better bc food is always the solution and he responded hours later…and i got a text fr. him right before he went to bed, “yeah, that always sounds good! haha” I gave up, moved on and forgot about him…had fun for the rest of the summer, life-changing experience on my vacation…it was great. I even briefly dated a co-worker…but for some reason, I just thought about him again. I ran into our mutual friend (randomly) and asked about him. She said that him and his ex’s relationship ended long ago and she moved on right away and had a new bf; she broke up w him and he took it a bit harder. He hasn’t dated anyone since. I added him on fb for kicks and on that day, he accepted the request (which i was surprised about fr. what I remember, he barely goes on and does little activity on it). My friend went through his profile (for me) and can honestly say he’s all about the guys right now…no girls at all. He would respond back to comments but if a girl flirted w. him, no response at all. And if he’s someone who’s so shy and selective (assuming he wasn’t interested), why would he add me back? (unless guys don’t care). What’s also VERY ironic was that we ended up having matching costumes! What i was wearing was very unique and I didn’t find anyone else that weekend that matched w. my costume (For ex: if was princess jasmine, he was aladdin). very eerie. ANYWAY, I need to stop thinking about him. He probably wasn’t interested bc if he was, something would’ve (or would now) happen. Besides, it’s impossible now…i haven’t seen/talked to him in months and fr. the last time we texted, I got the feeling that I was being pushy (even though i wasn’t…) or making him feel uncomfortable so i just left him alone…

I would compare the two revenue streams using the time-value of money concept. As the manager of a business I would have a legal and moral responsibility to look out for the best interests of the owners of that business. Unless the stockholders (owners) specifically tell me otherwise – my duty is to maximize the return on their investment.

You have to remember that this hypothetical ‘community’ you are discussing has no concern at all about the welfare of your corporation.

Since those people of that community are pursuing their own best interests and will choose that which benefits them even if it harms the interests of the owners of your company – you owe them the same consideration as they are willing to show you.

This is real life kid. People do not owe you – or your community – anything unless you are willing to offer something in return.

Choosing option #2 would likely place the company at a competitive disadvantage and produce the net result of not only no ‘sustainable practices’ for the community – but no jobs either when they go bankrupt.

Yahoo webhosting? What’s a good web host?

Every Top 10 Hosting Plans list I see is different. So those don’t offer much help.

Bluehost I’ve never heard of but keeps emerging as one of the best.

I’m currently using godaddy which I REALLY DISLIKE. It’s tortuous. Everytime you buy a domain, you’re blasted with screens of more options to buy crap. I dislike godaddy hosting.

I have about 8 domains and a hosting package currently on godaddy so if I switched I’d need to be able to transfer those.

I REALLY like yahoo’s search engine and answers! area, etc. But I am not sure about there webhosting.

Would need

– ecommerce (i’m going to be selling audio products, documents, and possibly video products from the site. So auto-downloading of a purchased product is a must (I know ejunkie offers that but that’s too small scale).

–Site analytics!!! I MUST have site analytics!

– domain transfer ease

–quality cPanel installs

– low cost etc.

Thanks. Bluehost was the top of this one list, so I may check them out.

Bye Bye Bluehost.

Customer for years… raised my rate without warning. Restricted number of emails I could send. Requested an increase and got the run around. Was told to write to someone in particular and they never wrote back or responded to any calls. POOR customer service so switched. Must be nice to be making enough $$ to not care about service anymore.

Worst Swindle Company Blue host LIMITED 50000 FILES!!.

If you review a hosting company do not choose this company. Unlimited web space is the lie. YOU CAN ONLY PUT 50000FILES. If you put over 50000 files.
I just received the mail from BLUEHOST.com >>> It has come to our attention that your site is using an excessive number of files stored on your BlueHost.Com account. This is causing performance problems on your website as well as for other customers that are on this server. It can cause our servers to crash and cause additional downtime.
Who do I report a virus who makes commission off of Yahoo toolbar to?

I just recently got a virus that reports back home on occassion. I haven’t been watching it for more than an hour, but at least on start up for the program. It is labeled 20110126.exe which is probably changes depending on the infection date of the PC.

I have noticed recent reports of this same infection:

http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_367166.htm

http://www.threatexpert.com/report.aspx?md5=de9ec05ded5ef95da8ba354e8b690253

After watching the traffic passing to/from this program, it seems to be getting what seems to be keywords linking to sites for advertising updates such as the following junk at the bottom being the first part of the data being transfered back to my compter (there’s a good chunk more).

It does seem to show a link to a yahoo toolbar page for installation with the following data:

http://toolbar.yahoo.com/?.cpdl=msgrnp&AID=10760506&PID=3901820

I’m assuming this virus maker is getting commission by somebody going to the above link and installing the toolbar. So who do I report this to??? How do I report it to the proper people at yahoo to look into it???

I know this seems a little advanced for this forum – but it’s a simple question, if somebody is using malicious means to install a yahoo toolbar on your pc, how do you report that person?

Thanks!
It’s a valid link to a yahoo toolbar installation from yahoo. So, in my opinion Yahoo is paying these guys (I’m not sure how their toolbar install commission works). The link to their page is a valid link on a yahoo server, so they are a direct party in this mishap, unlike a phishing page or a look-a-like page.

I have a feeling youre going to get the same result as I did.
I was reading a Q from someone who got a bogus Yahoo Lottery winning email. BUT this time, they posted a Yahoo Website which showed the lottery offices. A happy man in a tie & white shirt, sitting at desk.
Of course, its a fake Yahoo site. I tried to report it, and all they could say is.. It isnt our site, so we cant do anything about it. I sent another email to a security address and got the same response.
This is kind of the same thing. If they arent using the actual toolbar site, then Yahoo cant do much about it.

Security@yahoo-inc.com this is where I emailed. Ask them if they dont want to get involved what the proper channel would be to get someone to look into this.

Names of web pages are cut short when printed?

There are many web pages such as reports from news organisations that I would like to save as PDF files. PDF is easier to handle than a saved web page.

Take for example the following story “New rules for UK air traffic as ash cloud lingers – CNN.com” at

http://edition.cnn.com/2010/TRAVEL/05/18/europe.ash.cloud/index.html?hpt=T2

The problem is that when I save the page as a PDF file it comes out as

“New rules for UK air traffi..pdf”

I would rather it displayed the full title:

“New rules for UK air traffic as ash cloud lingers – CNN.com.pdf”

This appears to be the case for all PDF creating software. Even the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer shortens the name.

This occurs in both Firefox and Internet Explorer. Is it a standard thing for web browsers to shorten the name before printing it as a document or is there a way round it?

how does google maps real time traffic work?

how does google maps real time traffic work?

Now, I already know google collects their data from an amalgamation of sources, such as various city-maintained cameras that report to databases on the real time road conditions in their area.

What I want to know are the specifics. This is what most people DON’T know and don’t know how to find out either. Here are my questions:

-Whats the *exact* name of the API call google uses to retrieve that data, and what parameters do they pass? Can you supply a real-world working example of such an API call?
-What kind of technology do the cameras use – radar, infrared, motion sensors etcetera? How is the device powered?
-Can you supply a link to a web page where I can buy such a camera or speed monitoring device?
-What are the typical intervals bewteen cameras on a highway? 1/4 a mile? half a mile? two miles? Do you know how often these devices have to be serviced?
-Can you tell drivers how to spot and identify speed-monitoring cameras on the highway?
-Does google have to pay various sums of money to access this traffic information?

SPECIFIC DETAILED KNOWLEDGEABLE ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE!!!

Thanks guys!!
I found the answer to my first question: the API is called “GTrafficOverlay.show()” and has no parameters.

If you can send me a link to the source code for the show() function that would be awesome (probably you can’t) thx!
I now have the answer to my second question, as follows:

When most traffic data collection professionals think about “continuous data collection,” they think of automatic traffic recorders (ATR). These devices (most incorporating inductance loop detectors) have been used for many years to monitor traffic at specific locations and to produce the factors applied to short duration traffic volume counts in order to estimate annual average traffic volume conditions.

taken from: http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/ohim/tmguide/tmg2.htm#Automatic%20Traffic%20Recorders
Here is the answer to my third question: a link where you can but an advanced traffic monitoring device: http://www.jamartech.com/ATRs.html
hey – can someone answer this question so it doesn’t get removed? just say “hi!”
