Good book about online marketing?
Next week I’m starting an internship as a marketing & communications manager and I want to read a little bit more into online marketing. Anybody has any good suggestion about a good book?

Is this an acceptable way of marketing a niche service online?
We have a small plumbing business and I have found a niche service of winterizing homes in our area that I would like to market to real estate brokers and property managers. In this area I can access them mostly by email or by phone message. I would like to send an email that outlines our service and prices. I think it would be easier to track responses by email but is email a professional way to approach this?
I am new to online marketing and since our professional reputation is important I don’t want to start off on the wrong foot. We are on an advertising budget -most off which has already been allocated for other things so I do need to be careful here.

YES: It is totally acceptable. Make certain to note your address & Phone number in the E-mail. Most people like doing business with people that are local. The old fashion way is flyers left in the door.
When you get a job on a street set it up for 2 days or more in the future. Use the time to tell the neighbors by flyers about the service and note that you will be in the area at xxx time, offer a minor discount. Please be certain to note your address and Phone no., also they must call to get discount.
I am sure you realize that this activity, is only for name reconization. These customers will need something that keeps your major service in their minds. The most easiest I know of is magnetic strips that you tape your business card to. They are placed on refrigrator doors. A package of 20 cost about $5.00 at Office depo, Staples, office supply shop.
The same approach can be used for an annual drain cleaning, (Snake all major drain lines from property to main). Real good service where leaves fall from trees.
Related service Bi-annual drain clean, my kitchen drain fills with grease, the bath sink gets clog with hair, this service can be done quick, cheap, and net a good look for other services. At lease you will have a happy customer that will refer you to others. Don’t forget the business card.
BUSINESS CARD: Asign each customer a number. They write it on ten business cards of your, they give the business card to someone. When that person call for a job, you give the customer a LABOR free winterizing. The customer pays for the material but there is no cost for labor.
Hope these ideas grow your business quickly. One other tip: Convert employees to independant contractors. Have them provide their own basic tools and approved tranportation. All business contracts are to be operated through your office, no side contracts unless approved.

I applied online at shaws market and then called the manager and talked to him and he said that he will bring me up in his next meeting and call me tomorrow but never did and he told me that 3 days ago will he still call me? And please be serious i really wanna know

how to deal with nasty manager at a corporation?
I was hired by CMO [chief mkt officer] as the online marketing contractor [temp-to-hire status] but I’m reporting to the online marketing Manager. For the past 5 weeks all he asks me to do are tweeting articles related to our industry and commenting on blogs all day long. I feel very useless at work. I hv 10 yrs of work experience and everytime I asked him anything else I can help him, he just kind of ignored me, he also did not let me involve in marketing department meetings. I tried proactively to get involved in more useful tasks but still being treated the same way and feel left out.
Then one day I had a talk with HR, but HR told me to talk to the manager and today I found out she somewhat talked to my manager w/o me knowing. Then my manager came to me and told me [obviously he's upset] that he only wants me to comment on blogs for now.
Then he told me that some executives told him I have made mistakes more than anyone else do BUT I had never got a chance to work with anyone at work except for my manager, how can mistakes even happen? I asked him what mistakes so I know and will not repeat but he could not tell. I have doubts here on what he said..
Next, he told me the CMO told him he can dismiss me this week if he wants or just have HR dismiss me if he does not want to deal with me [but on Monday CMO told another colleague that he tries to make me as full-time/permanent employee at work. I have 2nd doubt here too.
Long story short, today the entire conversation was telling me about dismissing me/terminating me and I made mistakes, per other executives but I never got a chance to work with anyone at work except for my manager, how can mistakes even happen? I don’t know what to do. I felt threatened. Seems like I cannot talk to HR no more. Who can be the mediator? Who can save me?
I am also in a same similar situation. If our work and else where straight going to the superior because of the 3rd party and its not communicated by us their exist the real problem. If you havent done any mistake confidentally you can just speak to the CMO. In case if he points out you that you have done mistake never feel for apologising when mistake is in your end.
Sometimes we feel we never done any mistake this is because of over confidence on us. When someone points only we will find whats the real mistake is. Nothing is getting annoyed when somone points our mistake as they are superior and very well knows more than us. Better to clear all your doubts straight and with confidence speak to the concerned person who is the real authority rather than confusing yourself what is happening around you. Here your commuication is between you and your manager you dont know what your manager is speaking with your CMO regarding you.
First try to find out what is happening around you. Be careful in anlaysing all situation and be bold enough to face such situation all are human beings and nothing going to go wrong when we dont do any mistakes.
